Mahogany Bow-Front China Cabinet — Glazed Upper, Four-Drawer Base
A two-piece mahogany china cabinet in the Federal taste, built in solids and veneers with a serpentine bow-front lower case and a glazed display upper. The upper section presents twin glass-panel doors opening to two fixed interior shelves at staggered heights — 10", 11", and 14" — set against a figured mahogany back. A stepped cornice crowns the case. The lower chest carries four graduated dovetailed drawers fitted with bail pulls on rosette-form brass backplates, set above a shaped bracket base.
The form is a familiar one in mid-century American mahogany production — the kind of cabinet that anchored a formal dining room through the 1940s and '50s, equally suited to displaying china above and storing flat linens, silver, or table service below.
CONDITION
Good overall with age-appropriate wear. Scratches and scuffing throughout the case; previous repair to the lower left corner; lower front trim scratched and the lower right trim cracked. Drawers operate; doors close and key is present at the lock escutcheon.
