Franciscan Apple Earthenware Dinner Plates & Berry Bowls, Set of 11
Set of eleven pieces of Franciscan Apple, the hand-painted California earthenware pattern introduced in 1940 and continuously produced into the late twentieth century. Seven dinner plates and four berry bowls, all carrying the signature red apples, green leaves, and brown branch border on a cream ground. Maker's marks present across multiple generations of Franciscan backstamps, indicating the set was built up over time — a common story for this pattern, which families collected piece by piece for decades.
Apple remains the most recognized American dinnerware pattern of the mid-twentieth century, a fixture of Sunday tables from coast to coast. Mix-and-match generations of backstamps are part of the charm here, and the set is ready for daily use or display.
CONDITION
Good overall. Bowls show crazing to the interior glaze. Light utensil wear to plates consistent with use. No chips or cracks noted.
