Amish-Built Solid Cherry Two-Piece Stepback Cupboard with Glass-Paneled Hutch
A well-proportioned two-piece stepback cupboard in solid cherry, built in the Amish tradition with clean Shaker-influenced lines and honest joinery throughout. The upper hutch carries a stepped crown molding above three glass-paneled doors that open to reveal two adjustable plate-rail shelves; the lower base presents three dovetailed drawers over three flat-paneled cabinet doors concealing three fully removable and adjustable shelves, all resting on a simple plinth base.
Construction is solid cherry throughout the case, doors, and drawer fronts, with a warm honey-toned finish that lets the grain figure read clearly. The piece is unmarked as to specific shop, consistent with much custom Amish cabinetwork sold through regional galleries. The two sections separate cleanly for transport, and the scale suits a dining room, library, or generous kitchen wall.
CONDITION
Very Good. Light scuffing to the top surface and to the case near the feet, with some scuffing to one shelf. No remarkable damage; joinery is tight and doors and drawers operate properly.
