Description

Talavera Hand-Painted Christmas Tree & Snowman Figural Pair, Mexico

A festive pair of hand-painted ceramic holiday figures imported from Mexico, finished in the vivid Talavera palette of cobalt, orange, green, red, and turquoise over a white tin glaze. Each piece is slip-mold cast in earthenware, then hand-decorated with the dense floral and geometric motifs characteristic of Puebla-tradition folk pottery. Both carry the Hecho en México hologram label on the underside.

The tree stands tall on a cobalt base with a tiered, branching silhouette crowned by a gilded green-washed star. The snowman is bundled in a ribbed green-and-red knit cap, a coiled orange scarf, and blue mittens — one mitten cradling a glowing orange lantern. The body is painted with a folk-art cabin scene tucked among scrolling florals. Together they make a charming seasonal display with strong shelf presence.

CONDITION

Snowman grades Excellent with no damage noted. Tree grades Fair with several touched-up chips throughout and a previous repair to the star topper, visible at the base of the star where it joins the tree.
