Description

Uranium Depression Glass Beehive Pitcher with Rotary Beater & Refrigerator Dish

Two-piece grouping of American Depression-era uranium glass kitchenware, circa 1930s, both pieces fluorescing bright green under blacklight — the hallmark of true vaseline glass. The beehive-form measuring pitcher carries ribbed horizontal banding, an interior molded measurement scale (1 through 4 cups), and a snowflake/starburst mold mark to the base consistent with Hazel-Atlas or Anchor Hocking. Seated in the pitcher is a period rotary egg beater with green-painted wood knob handles and a nickel-plated cast mechanism — a coordinated kitchen pairing typical of the era's color-matched household goods.

The companion refrigerator dish features a stepped base and ribbed vertical-and-horizontal grid pattern with its original matching lid — a clean Art Deco form attributed to Hazel-Atlas. Depression glass was mass-produced and widely distributed across America during the 1930s; pieces like these stocked kitchens from Las Cruces to Roswell. The UV reactivity makes both pieces strong display candidates under blacklight, glowing an intense, almost electric green.

CONDITION

Fair overall. The pitcher shows a significant chip to the pouring spout with rough edges, along with roughness to the rim. The refrigerator dish has a chip to the interior rim where the lid seats. Both pieces show wear consistent with period kitchen use. The rotary beater turns and operates; paint loss to the green wood knobs is consistent with age.
