Uranium Glass Divided Relish Basket & Lidded Hobstar Candy Dish, 1920s–40s
A two-piece uranium (vaseline) glass grouping with confirmed UV fluorescence — both pieces glow a vivid green under black light, the primary draw for collectors of this material. The first piece is a three-section divided relish tray in pressed glass, cut with sunburst and fan motifs radiating from a central spine, fitted into a silver-plate basket frame with pierced Greek key border, swing handle, and ball feet. The second is a small lidded candy or sugar bowl with sawtooth rim, hobstar and pinwheel pattern, and a faceted knop finial.
Both glass pieces are attributed to American pressed glass production, circa 1920s–1940s. The silver-plate caddy is a period accessory frame, designed to dress up the relish tray for table service. Together the pieces present as a coordinated uranium glass display set, with crossover appeal to Depression glass and vintage kitchenware collectors.
CONDITION
Excellent. No damage to either glass piece — sawtooth rim and finial are intact, divided tray is clean and crisp. Silver-plate frame shows light tarnish and minor surface wear consistent with age.
