Three-Piece Hand-Crafted Feather Fan & Smudge Wand Group with Beaded Rosettes

A three-piece grouping of hand-crafted ceremonial-style feather fans and smudging wands. The center piece is the showpiece: a 25" bark-covered twig handle topped with a broad fan of guinea fowl feathers, anchored by a multi-row beaded rosette of white shell beads, red and blue seed beads, and a central mirror-like accent. White marabou down softens the fan's base, and the handle terminates in a full horse hair tassel capped with a silver-tone metal ferrule.

The smaller wands echo the center piece in materials and intent. The right wand carries a mixed turkey-and-guinea fowl fan with a blue, white, and shell-bead rosette on a teal ground, mounted on a peeled twig handle wrapped in white rawhide. The left wand is the most compact — a bundle of guinea fowl feathers bound with mixed blue, red, and purple yarn over a leather-wrapped twig grip. Guinea fowl plumage is a widely used contemporary substitute for protected raptor feathers in ceremonial and decorative work. The grouping displays well together and offers strong tactile and visual variety for wall or shelf arrangement.

CONDITION

Good overall as shown. Feathers retain their structure with light separation and natural curl at the tips; beadwork rosettes are intact and tight. Wrappings, horse hair, and handles are sound with no losses noted.
