Wrought Iron Scrolled Coffee Table with Gilt Shell Motif & Beveled Glass Top
A substantial wrought iron coffee table with romantic, baroque-leaning scrollwork and a serpentine beveled glass top. The hand-forged base is finished in a dark bronze patina with gilt highlights, anchored by four C-scroll legs that sweep outward into curled toe rests. Pierced apron panels of looping volutes wrap all four sides, with gilt scallop shell medallions centered on each long elevation — a classical motif borrowed from Rococo and Hollywood Regency vocabularies.
The thick beveled glass top is cut in a shaped rectangular form with concave-curved sides, echoing the curves of the ironwork below. Frosted ball finials rise from each corner post to cradle the glass. The scale suits a large living room or great room; the open ironwork keeps visual weight low despite the table's footprint.
CONDITION
Good. Scuffing and wear to the painted iron finish consistent with use, with minor gilt rub on the shell medallions. Glass top is intact with no chips or cracks.
