Westmoreland Glass Uranium Vaseline Glass Basket with Twisted Handle
A pressed Westmoreland Glass basket in classic vaseline glass — that distinctive pale yellow-green that erupts into electric green fluorescence under UV light. The flared, paneled body rises from a starburst foot and opens to a softly ruffled rim, spanned by a tall rope-twisted handle with feathered detailing. The form is a Westmoreland staple: decorative, functional as a bonbon or floral keeper, and a textbook example of why uranium glass remains one of the most collected categories in American pressed glass.
Westmoreland Glass Company of Grapeville, Pennsylvania, produced vaseline and canary glass from the late 19th century through the company's closure in 1984, and baskets in this style remain among the most sought-after forms for the warm color and the dramatic UV response. Maker marked.
CONDITION
Excellent. No chips, cracks, or damage noted. Glass is bright and clear with strong UV fluorescence.
