Description

GAF View-Master Viewer with 41 Reels — Disney, Muppets, Hulk, Looney Tunes & More

There's a particular kind of quiet that came with holding a View-Master up to the light — that soft click of the lever, the reel advancing, and suddenly you were somewhere else entirely. A circus ring with Dumbo. The Hundred Acre Wood with Pooh and Tigger. Kermit and Miss Piggy mugging for the camera. For millions of kids growing up in the 1970s and early 1980s, the GAF View-Master was the closest thing to a home theater that fit in two hands. This lot brings that whole world back in one generous collection: a working viewer paired with 41 reels across nine identified sets and a run of Disney Favorites singles — nearly every iconic title from the GAF era under one roof.

The viewer is the classic red-and-white molded plastic GAF Model E housing, embossed with the GAF logo and marked "Made in U.S.A. GAF Corporation Portland, Oregon" on the base — placing it squarely in the 1970s GAF production period. Tested and fully functional, with clear stereo imaging through both lenses. Most reel sets retain their original printed sleeves or story booklets, which are part of what makes a lot like this compelling — the paper ephemera is often the first thing lost. The white plastic storage canister is also included.

Reel Inventory
  • The Incredible Hulk (Marvel Comics / GAF, c. 1978) — 3 reels (J 26: 002-119, 002-120, 002-121) with sleeve. Marvel-licensed GAF titles from the late 1970s are among the most actively traded in the hobby; the Hulk set benefits from the concurrent CBS television series (1977–1982) that drove the original licensing deal.
  • Meet Jim Henson's Muppets (GAF "Showtime" series, c. 1979–1980) — 3 reels (002-194, 002-195, K 26) with full-color Showtime booklet. The Showtime packaging, with its bold photo cover of the Muppet cast, is one of the most recognizable GAF releases; the Jim Henson licensing era is well-documented and broadly collected.
  • The Bugs Bunny / Road Runner Show (Warner Bros., c. 1981) — 3 reels (002-418 "Big Top Bunny," 002-419 "Big Top Bunny" cont., 002-420 "Hip Hip Hurry") with sleeve. One of the later Warner Bros. GAF releases; the black-and-white graphic sleeve is period-correct for the 1981 copyright date on the booklet.
  • Walt Disney's Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too (Walt Disney Productions, c. 1975) — 3 reels (001-463, 001-464, 001-465) with sleeve. Tied to the 1974 featurette; MCMLXXVI copyright on reels.
  • Walt Disney Presents Dumbo (GAF, c. 1970s) — 3 reels (J 60: 002-169, 002-170, 002-171) with sleeve.
  • The Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales (GAF, c. 1960s–1970s) — 3 reels (B 312: Reels A, B, C — "The Elves and the Shoemaker," "Rumpelstiltskin," "The Bremen Town Musicians") with story booklet.
  • Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes (View-Master, c. 1960s) — 3 reels (B 4101, B 4102, B 4103) with sleeve. Older production; reel label design and packaging consistent with pre-GAF or early-GAF era.
  • Disney Favorites — Individual Reels (c. 1960s–1970s): Love Bug (RP-3026), Mary Poppins (RP-3025), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (RP-3062), Mickey Mouse in "The Brave Little Tailor" (RP-1965), Bambi (RP-1965 series), Disneyland (RP-3027), Donald Duck in "Flying Saucer Pilots" (RP-1965 series)
  • White plastic storage canister — 1 included (contents/label blank)

Total: 41 reels across 9 sets / groupings, plus storage canister.

CONDITION

Good overall and fully functional. Tested; viewer operates correctly with clear stereo imaging through both lenses. Age-appropriate wear and discoloration throughout the white plastic housing. Reel sleeves and booklets show edge wear, creasing, and minor tears consistent with use; reels themselves remain intact with images viewable.
