C. Panduro Virgen de Guadalupe & Mexican Folk Art Candleholder
Pair of vintage Mexican folk art ceramics featuring a hand-modeled Virgen de Guadalupe signed C. Panduro, together with a colorful Tree of Life-style candlestick marked MEX. The Virgen de Guadalupe showcases the classic Tlaquepaque tradition, with soft facial features, vivid pink and blue robes trimmed in gold, and gilt metal rays radiating from her cloak. This figure reflects the distinctive artistry of the renowned Panduro family, celebrated for their devotional and figurative clay sculpture.
The companion candlestick embodies mid-century Mexican folk design, richly hand-painted with perched birds, corn leaves, and flower medallions in turquoise, orange, and green enamel tones. Its whimsical form recalls the “Tree of Life” style made popular in central Mexico during the 1940s–1970s, often created as festive or holiday candleholders. Together, these pieces represent two enduring expressions of Mexican ceramic folk artistry—religious and decorative—crafted with exceptional color and character.
