"Wheat Fields in Normandy" — Oil on Masonite After Vlaminck
A moody Norman landscape in the manner of Maurice de Vlaminck, rendered in oil on masonite with the heavy, expressive impasto that defines the Fauvist master's mature post-1920s work. A row of stucco farmhouses with red and green roofs stretches along the horizon beneath a turbulent blue sky, while a windswept wheat field dominates the foreground in slashing strokes of ochre, gold, and rust. The palette knife work in the grasses and the dragged scumbling of the clouds capture Vlaminck's signature tension between brooding atmosphere and rural stillness.
