Carved Balinese Mirror, Tri-Tone Acanthus & Dentil Frame by Pier 1 Imports

A substantial Balinese-made wall mirror from Pier 1 Imports, hand-carved in Indonesia and dated July 2006 per the original maker's label affixed to the verso. The deep frame layers three distinct treatments: an outer band of carved dentil blocks, a wide ebonized field, and an inner course of bold acanthus-leaf carving punctuated by a small palmette cartouche at the top and bottom centers. A warm honey-gilt slip frames the mirror plate itself, providing contrast against the darker stained mahogany-tone carvings.

The solid wood construction gives the piece real presence, and the rectangular format hangs either vertically or horizontally depending on placement — over a console, in an entry, or above a dresser. The hand-carved nature means slight variations in the relief work add character throughout. Original Pier 1 hangtag and care card retained.

CONDITION

Good with light signs of use. An indentation is present along one outer edge. Carved surfaces and finish are otherwise intact with no significant losses to the relief work.
