Buck Custom "Geronimo Peace Dagger" 100th Anniversary Commemorative, #0370/2000
Issued in 1983 by The Historic Providence Mint and hand-crafted by Buck Knife Company, the Geronimo Peace Dagger commemorates the centennial of Geronimo's first peace treaty with General George Crook in 1883 — ending two decades of warfare during which the Chiricahua Apache war chief was never captured nor defeated in battle. This example is numbered 0370 of a limited edition of 2,000, with the serial stamped on an inlaid escutcheon set into the stag handle.
The hand-ground blade is deeply etched and inlaid with 24kt gold electroplate, depicting a portrait of Geronimo at the ricasso, scenes of the treaty council, and "100th ANNIVERSARY" banner-work flanked by scrolling foliate engraving. The blade carries an illusion edge — the appearance of sharpness but dulled at the factory to permit safe handling and preserve collector value. Polished nickel-silver guard and pommel-end cap frame genuine stag-antler grip scales. The dagger is housed in its original dovetailed walnut presentation case with burgundy velvet lining and brass hardware. The original Certificate of Authenticity signed by William R. Schrenk, Vice President of The Historic Providence Mint, is included.
CONDITION
Excellent. No damage. Blade etching and gold inlay remain crisp and bright; stag scales, nickel-silver fittings, and presentation case all present without notable wear. Certificate of Authenticity shows light age toning to the paper.
