Surveyor's Field Kit — Lietz Clinometer, USGS Map Wheel, Kuker Brass Plumb Bob & Alvin Lead Pointer

A four-piece working surveyor's and draftsman's kit assembled from quality field instruments. The set centers on a Lietz No. 8047-150 pocket clinometer (Japan), an aluminum-bodied tool with a silvered scale reading percent and degrees from 0 to 90 in both directions — used to measure slope and inclination on grade work and timber cruising. Alongside it sits a Kuker brass plumb bob marked "C.J. KUKER / SEATTLE," a heavy machined cone with original cord and steel point, showing the bronze patina and verdigris of long field use.

The kit also includes a Miles brand opisometer (map measuring wheel) marked "Germany," with a triple-scaled dial reading the three standard USGS map scales — 1:62,500, 1:31,680, and 1:24,000 — retained with its original printed directions card. Rounding out the lot is an Alvin "Kleen Point" No. 5555 pocket lead pointer, West Germany made, complete with its original vinyl Alvin sleeve and printed instruction sheet. The Lietz arrives in a felt-lined fitted leather case; the Kuker bob in a worn leather belt sheath.

CONDITION

Good throughout with honest signs of working use. The Kuker plumb bob shows scuffs, dings, and verdigris consistent with decades of field service. The Lietz clinometer and Alvin pointer present cleanly; the Miles map wheel shows light dial toning. All cases and original paperwork retained.
