Sculptural Teak Root Form, Floor Sculpture, Hand-Polished
Five upward-reaching tendrils spiral from a broad, flared base in this floor-scale teak root sculpture, finished to a warm amber sheen. Natural burls, knots, and swirling grain run the full height of the piece — the wood's own architecture doing the compositional work. The surface has been smoothed and sealed to draw out the rich flame-like striping without obscuring the rawness of the original root form. At just eight pounds, the piece is deceptively light for its visual presence.
CONDITION
Good overall. Indentations throughout are consistent with the natural root structure. Several natural drying checks are visible along the trunk, including one extending vertically through the lower section; minor scuffs and tool marks are present at the base feet.
