Hand-Carved African Tribal Mask with Bared Teeth
Hand-carved wooden wall mask depicting a stylized human face with a domed forehead, heavy ridged brow, almond-shaped eyes, and a narrow ridge nose. The open mouth reveals two rows of pointed teeth, and the ears are rendered as bold disc-and-comb projections flanking the temples. A dark patinated finish over the wood reveals warm reddish-brown tones beneath where the surface has been handled or worn over time.
Carved from a single solid piece of wood and configured for wall display. Tribal attribution likely Bassa or Chokwe.
CONDITION
Good overall condition with a rich, hand-rubbed patina and minor surface wear consistent with age and handling. Light abrasions and lifted surface to the crown and forehead; no major losses observed to the carved features.
