Substantial hand-carved and hand-painted ceramic vase by Alexander Kalifano, executed in a bold Cubist idiom that echoes Picasso's portrait vocabulary. Stylized female figures with fractured profiles, almond eyes, and patterned drapery wrap the full body, set against silvered diamond-lattice grounds dotted with polychrome enamels. The ruffled, silver-leafed neck crowns a tapered baluster form, while crackle-glaze fields, striped passages, and jewel-tone reds, greens, and ochres animate every facet. At this scale — nearly eighteen inches tall and weighing fourteen pounds — the piece commands a room rather than merely occupying it.

CONDITION
