Description

Anchor Hocking Manhattan Clear Depression Glass 12-Piece Lot

A twelve-piece grouping in Anchor Hocking's Manhattan pattern (also marketed as "Park Avenue"), produced from the late 1930s through mid-century in clear pressed glass. The pattern is immediately recognizable by its bold concentric horizontal ribs and, on the footed pieces, the distinctive scalloped bubble-ball base. The lot includes three footed tumblers, two footed bowls, two triangular relish or tidbit dishes, one rectangular stepped nappy/coaster, one footed candle holder, and three ribbed pressed-glass salt and pepper shakers with metal lids. All pieces are unmarked, consistent with Anchor Hocking production practice for this line.

The triangular dishes are a standout form — Manhattan pattern triangle relish dishes are among the more sought-after pieces in the line and appear less frequently than the standard round serving forms. The shakers depart slightly in pattern texture from the tumbler/bowl group, suggesting they may originate from a related but distinct pressed-glass line.

CONDITION

Good overall with signs of use consistent with age and handling. One shaker has a cracked metal lid, visible in the supplemental reference image. Glass across the lot is free of noted chips; light surface wear expected on a set of this era.
