Iron-Bound Dome-Top Chest & Carved Lattice-Lid Hardwood Box
A pair of decorative storage boxes in contrasting styles. The first is a dome-top wooden chest banded in dark iron strapwork with sawtooth and scalloped edging, studded with rivets, and fitted with a hinged hasp latch over a plain interior. The second is a low rectangular hardwood box with a deeply carved geometric lattice lid backed by a pierced openwork panel, opening to a divided interior with compartment tray.
Both boxes show Indian export craftsmanship, with the strapped chest evoking treasure-coffer styling and the carved box drawing on jali-screen tradition.
CONDITION
Good condition overall, fully functional with no damage. Both boxes open and close properly on intact hinges, with latching hardware secure on the dome-top chest. Surfaces show light handling wear consistent with use.
