Description

Hand-Built Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer, Signed & Dated 2021

A hand-crafted hourglass-form Appalachian mountain dulcimer with a light softwood top — consistent with cedar or spruce ⚑ — paired with a figured hardwood back and rosewood-family fingerboard and sides. The instrument carries four strings across a scroll-style headstock fitted with geared tuners and bone or synthetic-tipped pegs. Decorative details elevate this above utilitarian folk builds: abalone or mother-of-pearl position markers inlaid along the fretboard, and a mixed soundhole motif combining circular cutouts in the upper bout with diamond and arrow shapes in the lower.

An interior inscription reads "Emilie Malagati and Jim Manhart, August 2021," consistent with a maker's signature or collaborative build notation.

CONDITION

Very good overall with no remarkable damage. Finish, inlay, and structural elements present cleanly across all viewing angles.
