Mid-Century Flying Seagull Wall Sculptures, Olive Enamel Brass, 2 Pc
A matched pair of cast brass wall sculptures depicting seagulls in full flight, finished in a matte olive-green enamel that reads as quintessentially mid-century — warm, earthy, and confidently decorative. The larger piece arranges three stylized birds in a cascading diagonal formation, wings overlapping and swept back in the elongated silhouette favored by American decorative metalwork from the late 1950s through the 1970s. The smaller companion presents a single gull with fully spread wings and a sculptural fanned tail. Both pieces are unmarked, and exposed brass at chipped edges confirms the cast substrate throughout; original wire loop hangers are intact on the reverse of each.
CONDITION
Good; brass castings are structurally sound and all wire hangers are intact on both pieces. Enamel paint loss and chipping is present throughout — most concentrated along wing edges, the underside and tail of the solo gull, and the high-relief body of the trio piece — exposing bare brass in multiple areas. Wear is consistent with age and long-term wall display.
