Judy Steiner Mid-Century Harbor Oil Painting, Signed
Small-format oil on canvas depicting an abstracted harbor scene, signed "Steiner" at lower right. The composition is organized in three horizontal bands — foreground water with broken reflections, mid-ground moored vessels, and an abstracted blocky cityscape behind — unified by strong vertical masts piercing all three zones. The palette is deliberately narrow: amber, ochre, burnt sienna, raw umber, and black with strategic white highlights, evoking a golden-hour harbor. Confident palette knife and brush work, particularly in the layered reflections across the foreground water.
A handwritten verso reference identifies the artist as Mrs. G.L. (Judy) Steiner, 3 Robin Road, Milford, Massachusetts 01757. Consistent with the mid-century American regionalist marine idiom of the 1960s–early 1970s. Housed in a stained wood frame with stepped profile.
CONDITION
Good overall. Water stain to paper backing on verso — does not impact the painted surface. Some wear to the frame including minor surface marks and light handling scuffs.
