1964 Topps Beatles "A Hard Day's Night" Trading Cards, Lot of 16
Sixteen black-and-white cards from the 1964 Topps Chewing Gum "Beatles Movie – A Hard Day's Night" set, issued under United Artists license to coincide with the film's American release that summer. Each card front reproduces a film still or unit publicity photograph; the verso carries scene-descriptive text, the set's signature movie camera and tripod graphic, the card number, the T.C.G. copyright line, and "Printed in U.S.A." The full 55-card set documented the Richard Lester-directed film scene by scene, and this group spans a solid cross-section of the narrative — train depot chases, police-station comedy, backstage candids, the televised performance sequence, and the trailer shoot. Two card numbers appear in duplicate (No. 19 and No. 29), bringing the unique-number count to fourteen across the sixteen physical cards.
Card No. 6 (Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr posing during a filming break); No. 7 (Paul and Ringo clowning in the friendly fight scene); No. 15 (London Premiere scene at Piccadilly Circus, attended by Princess Margaret per the back text); No. 16 (early-morning movie-set call time scene); No. 19 × 2 (Paul in disguise watching grandfather at the train depot); No. 26 (Beatles trailer shoot for U.S. release); No. 27 (Paul, Ringo, and George preparing for the big fight scene); No. 29 × 2 (Ringo in trouble with the police); No. 33 (John Lennon writing new material between takes); No. 35 (George Harrison relaxing with a lemonade between scenes); No. 42 (Wilfred Brambell as grandfather scheming against Ringo); No. 47 (Paul McCartney in disguise keeping an eye on grandfather); No. 53 (all four Beatles opening fan mail in their hotel suite); and No. 54 (the Beatles performing live on television, with the Ludwig "Beatles" bass drum head visible).
CONDITION
Good overall. Cards display edge and corner wear consistent with sixty-plus years of handling, with light surface soiling and scattered soft creasing across the group. One card (No. 53) shows a small pink mark to the verso lower margin; several cards exhibit minor toning at the back edges. Fronts retain strong image contrast and remain bright.
