Sunbeam Mixmaster Model 12 — Stand/Hand Mixer, Milk Glass Bowls
Before KitchenAid was a status symbol and before every countertop appliance came in fourteen colorways, there was the Sunbeam Mixmaster — and the Model 12 represents the line at its confident postwar peak. The die-cast aluminum motor housing wears original white enamel finish with the looping Sunbeam script and block-letter Mixmaster nameplate in crisp black; the underside is stamped Model 12, 110–120 Volts AC-DC, 150 Watts. Nine speed positions arc from "Folding" through "Whipping Cream" on the side-mounted dial, and the sculptural black Bakelite turntable base — a Mixmaster-exclusive feature — spins the bowl automatically into the beaters, no hand-turning required. The motor head lifts cleanly off the stand to serve as a standalone hand mixer, a dual-function trick that made this machine a kitchen fixture when it entered production.
Two factory-fitted milk glass mixing bowls complete the set. The large bowl is marked Glasbake No. 26, Made in USA on the base with the Sunbeam script in a leaf cartouche; the smaller bowl carries a Fire-King Made in USA "For Sunbeam" mark — both embossed. These glass bowls are among the most sought-after accessories for this model, routinely separated from sets over the decades, and finding them together with an original machine is increasingly uncommon.
CONDITION
Good overall; fully functional and tested. The white enamel motor housing presents cleanly with light surface wear appropriate to decades of kitchen use, and the black Bakelite handle, turntable base, and stand show minor edge paint loss at contact points. Both milk glass bowls are free of chips or cracks.
