Description

Sterling Silver Spoon & Serving Piece Collection, 18 Pieces, 284g

An eclectic grouping of eighteen sterling silver spoons and serving pieces spanning the late 19th through mid-20th century. The lot includes a Gorham sterling pierced bonbon or nut spoon with scrolled cartouche, an Art Nouveau floral-handled teaspoon, a souvenir spoon from St. Croix with cut-out figural finial, a Madison High School (Minn.) engraved bowl souvenir spoon, a 1964-1965 New York World's Fair commemorative, a Scottish thistle-topped coffee spoon, a Canada enameled crest and maple leaf souvenir, a Calgary engraved spoon, a turquoise guilloché enamel handle demitasse, a small two-tine cocktail fork, a cheese or pastry server, a curved-bowl gravy ladle, and assorted teaspoons, demitasse spoons, and a sugar shell with monogrammed handles.

Marks observed across the lot include Gorham Sterling, BMCo (Bernard Rice's Sons / B.M. Co.), various "Sterling" stamps, and an English hallmark on one piece. Several handles are monogrammed. Bowls show a mix of bright polish, gilt wash on the souvenir and serving pieces, and honest tarnish throughout.

CONDITION

Good overall. All pieces structurally sound with no bends, splits, or repairs noted. Expected surface tarnish across the group, heavier on several bowls; polishing left to the buyer. Light scratches and use wear consistent with age; monograms present on multiple handles.
