Towle Old Colonial Sterling Pierced Almond Spoon, 1895 Pattern, No Monogram
Sterling silver pierced almond or bonbon spoon in Towle Silversmiths' "Old Colonial" pattern, introduced in 1895. The scalloped bowl is gilt-washed and pierced with a Gothic-influenced lattice of diamonds, quatrefoils, and arrow forms — among the more graphically striking serving pieces in the Old Colonial line. The handle carries the pattern's signature beaded edges, scrolled cartouches, and ornate openwork terminal, marked STERLING on the shank with a Towle maker's mark.
No monogram, which broadens appeal for collectors building or replacing pieces in this long-running pattern. Gold wash to the bowl interior remains clearly visible.
CONDITION
Good overall, with the gilt wash to the bowl interior intact and the piercing crisp. A dent is present to the bowl. Light surface tarnish throughout — polishing left to the buyer.
