Bisque Nativity Set, 18 Pieces with Jeweled Accents
A complete eighteen-piece nativity in unglazed white bisque, comprising the Holy Family, three Magi, shepherds and musicians, an angel of the Annunciation, and a full complement of stable animals including camels, an ox, a donkey, sheep and goats. Several principal figures are embellished with applied rhinestone jewels — ruby cabochons on the standing king's turban, multicolored stones on the crowned Magi's crown and gift casket, an emerald on the kneeling king's vessel, and pink and green accents on the camel's harness — lending the otherwise matte porcelain a touch of folk-art opulence.
The lot is presented atop a rabbit hide base in mottled brown and cream, used as the stable ground. Two of the figures are missing their original staffs.
CONDITION
Excellent overall with no chips or damage observed and all applied rhinestones present and bright. Two figures are missing their staffs as noted by the consignor. Bisque surfaces are clean throughout.
