Staunton Chess Set with Mosaic-Style Inlay Board & Tabacalera Cigar Box
A complete Staunton-pattern chess set paired with a decorative board finished in a lacquered faux-mosaic motif. The boxwood and ebonized pieces are hand-turned in the classic weighted Staunton form, with felted bases and crisp knight carvings. The board surrounds the playing field with a printed marquetry-style border of stars, geometric banding, and faux olivewood panels under a glossy lacquer finish.
The set is housed in a domed-lid Philippine cigar box repurposed as a storage case, retailing the original Tabacalera "The Finest Cigars Since 1881" interior brand, a Republic of the Philippines guarantee seal, and a carved "GH" monogram to the lid. Inlaid satinwood stringing accents the mahogany-toned case.
CONDITION
Good overall with age-appropriate wear. The board shows scratches, edge chipping, and lacquer loss at the corners. Chess pieces present complete with minor finish wear; the cigar box has light surface scuffs and a partially torn Philippine seal.
