Westerwald Salt-Glazed Stoneware: Pitcher, Stein & Jug

Three pieces of German Westerwald salt-glazed stoneware in the traditional Kannenbäckerland style, late 19th to mid-20th century. The largest is a tall baluster pitcher fitted with a pewter rim, hinge, and thumblift, painted with diagonal cobalt stripes and a "2" capacity numeral at the shoulder. The pewter-lidded tankard has a domed lid with ball thumblift, an impressed 0.5L capacity mark, and stylized cobalt foliate brushwork with tally hash marks. The third piece is a smaller baluster jug with pulled spout and looped strap handle, painted with bold cobalt scrolling foliate ornament.

The tankard's pewter lid carries a hand-engraved script monogram "FG" on the underside — an original owner's mark in the German Stammtisch tavern tradition, where regulars personalized their house steins. All three are gray hand-thrown stoneware with freehand cobalt decoration over salt-fired surfaces, consistent with continuous Höhr-Grenzhausen-area production from the 17th century forward.

CONDITION Good overall. The 0.5L stein shows surface crazing concentrated on the lower-left body. A faint vertical surface line is visible on the tall striped pitcher, appearing to be glaze-only. Pewter mounts intact and functional throughout.
