Curtis Jere "Sailboats" Brutalist Brass Wall Sculpture, Signed
Iconic mid-century wall sculpture in the Brutalist tradition, depicting a harbor scene with three sailboats moored at a piling dock, gulls in flight, and shorebirds perched along the planking. Constructed of torch-cut and welded brass and mixed metals with characteristic flame-patinated surfaces — sails finished in warm gold tones with pink and amber heat coloration, pilings and dock structure in deeper bronzed and oxidized hues. Signed "C. Jere" in black marker to one of the horizontal rails (see supplemental reference).
Curtis Jere was the collaborative pseudonym of Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels, founders of Artisan House (California, founded 1963). Harbor and sailboat compositions are among the most sought-after Jere subjects on the market.
CONDITION
Very good overall with rich original patina intact across all surfaces. A couple of minor bends to the sail tips noted (visible in supplemental reference images) but structurally sound and display-ready. No losses to the bird or boat elements; signature legible.
