Poul Hundevad Danish Teak Two-Piece Bookcase Cabinet

Poul Hundevad (Denmark, 1917–2011) built his reputation on storage furniture that treated organization as a design problem worth solving beautifully — and this two-piece teak bookcase cabinet is that philosophy at full scale. The upper hutch pairs sliding glass doors with fully removable, adjustable shelves; the lower cabinet answers with sliding teak-panel doors concealing adjustable shelving and a dovetail-jointed, felt-lined drawer. Carved oval recessed pulls are integrated flush into the door faces, book-matched teak veneers animate the lower panels, and the whole system separates into two stacking sections for placement or transport.

The verso carries the impressed "Made in Denmark / Danish Furniture Makers' Quality Control" mark alongside the Hundevad monogram — the Møbelkontrol certification was a rigorous third-party standard, not a marketing stamp, and its presence here speaks to both origin and construction integrity. Birch secondary wood throughout the interior is consistent with Hundevad's documented production practice.

CONDITION

Very Good. No remarkable damage; minor scuffs and scratches to the lower cabinet top, and the upper section shelving shows water spotting and light fading in isolated areas. Veneer presents minor imperfections in localized spots but remains tight and original throughout.
