Folk Art Welded Metal Roadrunner Sculpture — Rebar & Found Object
Hand-fabricated welded metal bird sculpture in the form of a stylized roadrunner, built up from hardware salvage and found hardware. Formed rebar forms the legs and long sinuous neck, diamond plate steel comprises the broad swept body and forked tail, washers serve as wide expressive eyes, and assorted found hardware makes up the open beak. The surface carries its original painted finish — salmon and terra cotta on the neck, cream-yellow on the body — softened by an even rust patina from outdoor exposure.
CONDITION
Good overall, with honest rust, oxidation, and surface wear consistent with outdoor use. The painted finish shows expected fading, flaking, and patina across the body and neck; the rebar legs and cross base display heavy oxidation. Welds appear sound and the sculpture stands stably on its X-form base.
