Description

1969 Baldwin Acrosonic Spinet Piano & Bench, Pecan, Lattice Rack

Baldwin Acrosonic spinet piano, serial number 1188544, dating to 1969 production at the Cincinnati, Ohio factory of the Baldwin Piano & Organ Company. The Acrosonic line was Baldwin's flagship spinet/console series, introduced in 1936 and prized for a fuller tone than typical drop-action spinets thanks to Baldwin's full blow action and tapered solid spruce soundboard. This example wears a pecan-toned cabinet with tapered fluted legs on brass cap casters and a distinctive pierced lattice music rack with arched top — a styling cue consistent with Baldwin's late-1960s decorator console offerings. The fall board carries the gilt Baldwin nameplate, the cast plate is stamped "BALDWIN MADE IN USA," and the underside bears the Baldwin patent label (form 0249-020218 R) along with a Piano Technicians Guild registration tag fragment. 88 keys (52 ivory-toned naturals / 36 black sharps) over three pedals.

Includes the matching wood bench with tapered legs. A retailer sticker from La Fiesta TV & Music Center, Suite 6 Bonita Plaza, Telshor at Missouri, Las Cruces, NM, remains on the underside — original Mesilla Valley point of sale.

CONDITION

Good overall and structurally sound. Soundboard is good with no cracks, sustain pedal works, and the action responds across the keyboard. Cabinet shows scratches, fading, and finish wear/loss throughout, with a 7" area of repaired veneer on the right rear bottom, chipped veneer at the left rear bottom, a 3" chip at the rear bottom center, and a loose brass cap/band on the front feet.
