Description

Vintage Teak Bookcase Cabinet with Bookmatched Veneer Back, c. 1970s

Tall vintage teak bookcase in the Danish Modern idiom, the open upper section backed by dramatic bookmatched teak veneer panels arranged in a cathedral-grain chevron — a hallmark of case goods produced in the 1970s and early 1980s for export, often by makers such as Domino Møbler, Hundevad, and Skovby. Three adjustable shelves sit above one fixed shelf, while the lower compartment is enclosed by a pair of plank-style cabinet doors with hand-shaped solid teak finger pulls and quartered veneer fronts. Construction combines solid teak edging and pulls with teak-veneered composite panels, consistent with Danish factory production of the period.

Unmarked, with no surviving paper label or maker's stamp located. The proportions, hardware profile, and veneer treatment are consistent with Danish manufacture rather than later Pacific Rim reproduction.

CONDITION

Very Good overall, with rich grain and clean lines presenting well from the front. A hole has been cut through the back panel for cord pass-through, and very light scratches are present on the surfaces.
