Eames for Herman Miller 670 Lounge Chair & Ottoman — Rosewood

Designed by Charles and Ray Eames and introduced by Herman Miller in 1956, the Model 670 lounge chair and 671 ottoman stand as the definitive icons of American mid-century furniture — a pairing that has held its cultural and market standing without interruption for nearly seventy years. This is a confirmed Herman Miller example from the 1970s, bearing the original arched-M oval medallion and full patent label on the underside of both pieces, citing Herman Miller Inc., Zeeland, Michigan. The shells are Brazilian rosewood veneer, with the deep flame figuration and amber-to-brown tonal range characteristic of the species — vivid and consistent across all panels. Black leather cushions are button-tufted throughout, mounted on a five-star cast aluminum base in dark finish with polished aluminum glides.

Both chair and ottoman are present and matching, each retaining original Herman Miller labeling.

CONDITION

Good to Excellent. Fully functional and tested; the leather is soft, supple, and supportive throughout. Some light scratching and scuffing on the shells and base consistent with age — no remarkable damage or wear. The armrest cushions show minor edge rollover at the front lip on both sides. The ottoman's patent label has partial edge lifting at one corner; the chair label and both Herman Miller medallions are intact and fully legible.
