Art Deco Three-Piece Vanity Set with Hand Mirror, Brush & Powder Jar
A three-piece Art Deco dresser set comprising a hand mirror, clothes brush, and lidded powder jar, each rendered in chrome and black enamel with linear silver-tone geometric inlay characteristic of the 1930s. The mirror back features a stepped cartouche flanked by bold black and cream stripes, while the brush carries a matching geometric motif over a black enamel ground. The brush is marked "Pro-phy-lac-tic" along the base, an established American maker of fine brushes.
The set is rounded out by a pressed glass powder jar with a starburst-cut base and a hinged-style lid in black enamel and brass with parallel banding, echoing the linear vocabulary of the larger pieces.
CONDITION
Good overall with strong cosmetic presentation on the decorated surfaces. The mirror plate shows significant desilvering and oxidation across the reflective surface, and the brush bristles retain dried adhesive residue at the base. Light surface scratches and minor wear to the chrome are consistent with age and use.
