Description

Le Creuset Flame Cast Iron Oval Cocotte — Made in France, Size G, c. 1980s

Le Creuset’s oval French oven in signature Flame enamel over cast iron, bearing the foundry stamp “LE CREUSET / G / MADE IN FRANCE” on the base. The letter “G” is Le Creuset’s legacy size designation for the ~31cm / 6.75 qt oval cocotte — part of an older marking system the company used before switching to numeric diameter stamps. Three physical details date this piece to French production of the 1980s: the flat unenameled cast iron base characteristic of that decade, the three concentric ring logo introduced by Le Creuset in 1972, and the Classic-series black phenolic knob. The cream sand interior, concentric-ring oval lid, and orange loop handles complete the picture of a workhorse cocotte from Le Creuset’s French golden era.

CONDITION

Good — moderate and honest signs of use throughout. Chips across the rim and lid. Interior carries heat staining and utensil marking; structurally intact.
