Antique Tufted Red Leather Bench — Victorian, Turned Legs, Nailhead Trim
A substantial antique hall or bedroom bench in the Victorian Renaissance Revival manner, upholstered in full-grain crimson leather with deep button tufting across the entire seat surface. The apron carries a continuous row of bronze-toned nailheads, and the dark espresso-finished turned wood frame rides on six ring-carved legs joined by a turned H-stretcher with center finial — details consistent with late 19th-century taste for architectural ornament in seating furniture. The leather is supple and well-filled, the tufting evenly executed with no collapsed buttons.
The piece has been previously restored and presents cleanly. The color combination — saturated red against near-black wood — gives it strong visual authority in both traditional and eclectic interiors.
CONDITION Very Good. The full-grain leather seat is intact with no tears, rips, or missing buttons, and the tufting holds its shape fully. Minor scuffing is visible on the legs; no remarkable damage to frame or upholstery. Previously restored.
