Art Deco Cloud-Back Club Chair & Ottoman in Mohair with Ebonized Carved Frame

An Art Deco club chair and matching ottoman with the unmistakable rounded "cloud" silhouette of the period, upholstered in cream mohair velvet with contrasting black piping. The exposed frame elements are ebonized and high-gloss lacquered, with stylized carved scrollwork running down the swept arms and continuing into block feet — a deliberate counterpoint to the soft, enveloping body.

The lot includes the matching upholstered ottoman in the same mohair and piping treatment, raised on ebonized carved feet that echo the chair.

CONDITION

Good overall and visually striking from across the room. Upholstery shows fading and wear consistent with age, the underside of the seat cushion has some staining and moth damage, and the ebonized arms have touched-up chips visible on close inspection.
