Arne Wahl Iversen Teak Dining Set — Table & 4 Chairs, Glyngøre, Danish Modern
A complete Danish Modern dining set featuring four Arne Wahl Iversen side chairs for Glyngøre Stolefabrik paired with a sculptural teak extension table in the same tradition. The chairs are the named piece: solid teak frames with Iversen's signature three-rail wave back — each slat carved with a gentle undulating profile — set on clean tapered legs with original paper cord seats. Each chair bears the Glyngøre "G.S." maker's mark on the inside of the rear leg. Arne Wahl Iversen studied under Kaare Klint at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen alongside Hans Wegner and Børge Mogensen, and his work for Glyngøre ranks among the most enduring ladder-back forms of the Danish Modern canon.
The extension table converts from a 51" round to a 70" oval with one leaf, or approximately 89" fully extended with both 19¼" leaves. As the top separates, the base transitions from single to double pedestal — each consisting of four vertically planked curved teak panels in an X-formation with arched feet. End grain on the leaves confirms solid teak construction throughout, not veneer over composite. The table disassembles for transport; all components are present and accounted for.
CONDITION
Very good. No remarkable damage. Minor scuffs and scratches consistent with normal use visible on teak frames and table surface — none distracting at normal viewing distance. All four chair frames are tight and structurally sound. Paper cord seats intact and functional on all four chairs. Extension hardware and slide rail system are intact and operational. Unfinished undersurfaces show lighter wood tone consistent with original construction. Minor dust and surface residue on raw edges — cosmetic only, wipes clean.
