Jan Severson Studio Mixed-Fiber Bowl Basket, Wicker, Jute & Wool
Studio-made low bowl basket by fiber artist Jan Severson, combining traditional willow wickerwork with contrasting bands of dyed seagrass, braided jute, coir, and tufted wool yarn. The flared rim is finished with a robust rolled and twisted wicker collar, while the lower body integrates earth-tone fiber inlays in rust, sage, and natural — a deliberate textural composition that reads as fiber art rather than utility ware.
Signed "Jan" in ink on a woven paper tag set on the underside center of the basket.
CONDITION
Good overall with no structural damage. Weave is tight and intact throughout, with light handling fuzz to the wool and jute elements and minor stray fibers along the rim consistent with handmade construction.
