Description

Antique 10K Gold Tiger's Eye Warrior Ring

A documented antique men's ring by Ripley-Howland Manufacturing Co., the respected Boston and New York jewelry house whose side-leaning anchor-and-K hallmark places production between 1887 and 1912. That dating matters: this ring predates the Art Deco era entirely, putting it squarely in the late Victorian and Edwardian period — when classical iconography in men's jewelry carried genuine cultural weight and American manufacturing jewelers built pieces meant to outlast the men who wore them.

The centerpiece is a rectangular tiger's eye stone hand-carved with the profile of a helmeted classical warrior in shallow relief. The figure faces left — helmeted, bearded, rendered with careful attention to facial structure and hair — and the warm chatoyant silkiness of the tiger's eye gives the carving unusual depth as it moves in light. The bezel is bordered with milgrain detailing and notched corner bezels; the shoulders carry raised fleur-de-lis ornaments within open shield-form panels; engraved scrollwork runs the length of the shank on both sides.

Ripley-Howland was a serious production firm, not a fashion house. Their output was built for durability and worn accordingly. At size 11 and 5.7 grams of tested 10K gold, this ring wears exactly as it was designed — substantial, personal, and built to last another century. Whether you're adding a documented American maker to your collection or looking for a ring with genuine history behind it, this one delivers on both counts.

CONDITION

Good, consistent with age and use. The tiger's eye carving is intact; the warrior portrait reads clearly with no significant loss of detail. The gold retains its form and decorative elements throughout — the milgrain borders, fleur-de-lis shoulders, and shank engraving are all intact and crisp. The ring has been previously resized, which may be visible on close inspection of the shank. Please review all photos carefully before bidding.
