This commanding sterling silver pendant is the work of Eddie Secatero, a Diné (Navajo) silversmith from the To'hajiilee and Canoncito communities west of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Secatero comes from a family where silversmithing is tradition — his parents Agnes and Eddie Secatero Sr. were both working silversmiths, and the craft has carried forward through generations. His work is rooted in classic Navajo bench technique: heavy gauge silver, deliberate construction, and an emphasis on presenting exceptional stone with restraint and confidence.
The centerpiece of this piece is a large freeform natural turquoise cabochon of striking character — vivid sky blue ground color swept through with a heavy, flowing brown and ochre matrix in the broad, swirling patterns found in high-grade American turquoise. The stone's matrix is a bold, organic patterning that gives the cab real visual weight and personality.
The reverse is stamped "ES / Sterling," confirming attribution to Secatero. At 71.1 grams of sterling, this is a substantial, wearable piece with real presence.
CONDITION
Good. The stone is secure in the setting with no movement, chips, or surface cracks visible. The silverwork shows light surface scratches consistent with prior wear — no dents, bends, or structural issues. Stamp and rope bezel detail remains crisp and well-defined.
