Tiffany & Co. Sterling Walking Cane — Burl Handle, Bamboo
A walking cane of genuine consequence. The crook handle is formed from densely figured burl wood, its swirling, compact grain contrasting handsomely against three sterling silver mounts: two narrow bands across the curved handle and a wider collar at the neck where handle meets shaft. That collar carries the full Tiffany & Co. Sterling stamp on one face and the owner's block-letter monogram, E.M.D., engraved cleanly on the other. The shaft is natural bamboo, darkened with age, its characteristic nodes visible the full length. Tiffany & Co. produced sterling-mounted canes during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods for a clientele that regarded such objects as personal statements.
CONDITION
Good — shows signs of use with some visible scuffing and wear throughout. The sterling collar and handle bands carry heavy tarnish and surface oxidation consistent with age; the Tiffany stamp and E.M.D. monogram remain fully legible on both faces. The bamboo shaft is intact with no cracks or splits.
