Description

Schmeckenbecher 3-Weight Musical Cuckoo Clock Dancers West Germany

Authentic Black Forest musical cuckoo clock by Emil Schmeckenbecher, crafted in West Germany and featuring the “Rhapsodie Suédoise” musical movement. This chalet-style example is equipped with a traditional three-weight, chain-driven mechanical movement, powering timekeeping, cuckoo strike, and an integrated music box. The clock chimes on both the hour and half hour, activating the cuckoo call, rotating dancer platform with two pairs of figures, and an animated horn blower.

The brass movement is stamped and well-preserved, with visible maker markings and clean gearing. The music mechanism utilizes a pinned cylinder system, typical of quality mid-century Black Forest production. The case features a richly finished wood façade with hand-painted details, alpine dancers, and decorative trim.

A complete and fully operational example, offering both mechanical complexity and classic Black Forest charm—ideal for collectors or display.

Condition:
In very good condition overall, fully functional and tested. Timekeeping, cuckoo strike, music box, rotating dancers, and horn blower animation all operate correctly. The movement is clean, and the case shows only minor scuffing visible upon close inspection, with no notable damage.
