Linden Oak Bracket Clock — Triple-Chime, W. German Movement
A fully mechanical, key-wound bracket clock by Linden — the retail brand of the Cuckoo Clock Manufacturing Company, the largest importer of Black Forest clocks in the United States. The movement, stamped 340-020 and made in West Germany, is a three-train, 8-day platform shared across the top tier of American-branded bracket clocks of the era, including Howard Miller and Hamilton. The arched-top oak case presents with fluted pilasters, bracket feet, and a brass carry handle, with a hinged glass front door providing winding access. The square dial plate carries four ornate cast-brass spandrels in foliate scrollwork, a brushed-silver chapter ring with Roman numerals, and serpentine black steel hands signed "Linden" at center.
The movement drives three winding arbors and a full chime-rod rack, producing Westminster, Whittington, and St. Michael melodies on a quarter-hour, half-hour, and full-hour schedule — the most desirable triple-chime configuration in this movement family. Fully tested and running. Original winding key included.
CONDITION
Very Good. Fully functional and tested; all three chime trains run and strike on the quarter, half, and full hour as intended. No remarkable damage to the case or movement. Minor scuffs consistent with age and handling present but do not detract from presentation.
