19th C French Napoleon III Marquetry Center Table

Exceptional 19th century French Napoleon III center or salon table, richly decorated with an elaborate marquetry top set against a deep ebonized ground. The finely executed inlay features a central urn with floral arrangement, flanked by mythical birds, and surrounded by a complex decorative program including multiple grotesque mascarons, scrolling acanthus, and radiant motifs. The precision and variety of the figural elements reflect a skilled workshop and a design rooted in earlier French decorative traditions.

The shaped top is bordered with brass trim and supported by turned and fluted legs with gilt bronze mounts, joined by a sculptural stretcher with central finial. A single dovetail drawer is incorporated into the frieze. An old handwritten label beneath appears to read “Table de salon… marqueterie,” reinforcing the French attribution.

A striking and highly decorative piece, ideal as a center table or statement writing table.

Condition:
In good antique condition overall, with visible surface wear including scratches and finish loss to the top consistent with age and use. Minor chips, dings, and dents are present, along with some looseness to the structure. The drawer is dovetailed and functions. Wear does not detract from the strong visual presentation.
