Arts & Crafts Leaded Stained Glass Window — Stylized Rose, ca. 1910

A single Arts & Crafts leaded stained glass window centering on a stylized rose motif executed in vivid cobalt, periwinkle, amber, and grass green art glass. The geometric flower — a lotus-like abstraction — rises from a spiraling stem line that sweeps diagonally across a field of hammered textured clear glass, terminating in a small cream diamond accent pane at lower center. An olive-amber teardrop bud crowns the bloom, flanked by broad green leaves. The lower register shifts to a coarser, deeply textured clear glass that changes the light quality distinctly from the smooth hammered field above. The lead came is confident and well-executed, the linework functioning as both structural framing and decorative composition. The panel retains its original painted wood sash frame with iron hinge hardware at top.

CONDITION

Good. The glazing is structurally sound with lead came tight throughout and all but one pane intact. One cracked pane is present — see images. The wood sash frame shows heavy paint loss and surface checking consistent with removal from an original installation; the iron hinge hardware shows surface rust.
