Stanley British Colony Buffet — Cherry, Dovetail Drawers

This is the kind of dining room buffet they stopped making. Stanley Furniture built the British Colony Series in their Virginia and North Carolina factories during the final decade of American-made traditional furniture — before domestic production wound down for good in the early 2010s. What came after was imported case goods at similar price points, with stapled joints, particleboard floors, and hardware that wiggles loose in two years. This piece has dovetail-constructed drawers, solid cherry finish, and brass bail hardware that still sits flush and firm. At 61 inches wide, it commands a dining room wall without overwhelming it — serpentine bow-front center, louvered cabinet doors flanking an open console with tiered shelving, turned bun feet grounding the whole form. The center drawer is felt-lined for silverware. Both cabinet bays conceal adjustable shelving. Maker-marked and labeled Made in USA.

You cannot buy this buffet new. The factories that built it are closed. What you're bidding on is a generation of American craftsmanship at a fraction of what a comparable imported piece costs retail today — and the imported piece won't outlast it.

CONDITION Very Good. Structure is solid, all doors and drawers operate, hardware is intact and functional. The top surface appears to have been refinished and presents cleanly with minor discoloration. Gentle signs of use throughout with no remarkable damage to case, doors, or drawers.
